Cantor|Over all, Verhulst does a ressonable job of conveying the central ideas of the topic. I found it to be slow going for a couple of reasons: First, it's clearly a translation and Springer should have done a better proofreading job ... many of the sentence constructions are unusual for English which is, at the very least, distracting. Sec|Language Notes|Text: English (translation)| Original Language: Dutch|From the Back Cover|On the subject of differential equations many elementary books have been written. This book bridges the gap between elementary courses
Bridging the gap between elementary courses and the research literature in this field, the book covers the basic concepts necessary to study differential equations. Stability theory is developed, starting with linearisation methods going back to Lyapunov and Poincaré, before moving on to the global direct method. The Poincaré-Lindstedt method is introduced to approximate periodic solutions, while at the same time proving existence by the implicit function t...
