||1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.| A Classic|By 39mmb|This book is a classic but not easy going. The author has fixed ideas and does not tolerate fools lightly. To read it you need a good grasp of topology and metric spaces plus a reasonable knowledge of set theory and classic analysis. Never mind that elusive quality called mathematical maturity. The new addition is updated and contains recent research results.

Descriptive Set Theory is the study of sets in separable, complete metric spaces that can be defined (or constructed), and so can be expected to have special properties not enjoyed by arbitrary pointsets.
